Today Delainey turns 13...at 9:02 pm to be exact. She will celebrate the day while attending school. Not exciting, but since her birthday falls on a school day, that's where she will be! Jim and I made of list of things that we hope Delainey always has in her life.
1. Love. We hope that she is able to both give and receive love from those both near and far. Love isn't always easy, but it is what we are here to do.
2. Laughter. We hope that she is always able to laugh, even when times are tough. Laughter is good for the entire body and soul.
3. Happiness. No one is happy all of the time, but we hope that she finds happiness in life.
4. Music. Music soothes the soul, it gives us words when we can't find any words to speak. We hope that she always hears the music around her.
5. Health. So often we take our health for granted, but we have tried to teach her about healthy choices. We hope that her life is filled with good health.
6. Courage. There are hard things that we have to face in life. We hope that she has the courage to face them...and the knowledge that she is strong enough to overcome the hard things.
7. Friends. Life is better with friends. We hope that she makes true friends along the way...the kind that know her stories and stick with her through it all!
8. Confidence. We hope that she learns to believe in herself that way that we do believe in her. We hope that she has confidence to face what the future holds.
9. Faith. We hope that she always has faith to believe in the things that she cannot see. There are things that can't be explained but are there any way. We hope that she keeps the faith that she has now.
10. Travel. The world is a big place, we hope that she is able to travel and explore all that is out there. Even exploring your own corner of the world can be an amazing adventure.
11. Kindness. We hope that she always shows kindness to others. It doesn't cost anything to be kind, but it can be life changing. We hope that she is one of the kind people in this world.
12. Knowledge. We hope that she never stops learning and never stops growing in her knowledge. There is always something new to learn...some new thought, a new book, a new problem to solve.
13. God. We hope that she knows the One who gives her life eternal. We hope that He is always her best friend, closest to her heart. We hope that she never forgets that she is a child of the one true King.
There are so many more things that we hope for our girl. Mostly, we hope that she always has enough of what she needs for as long as she lives. Today we have a teenager. It won't be long until she is grown and out the door. She will always be our baby and we will never stop hoping for the best for her.
